We are attempting to reintroduce student government to GES. We hope to use this to develop some student leadership and voice in our building! Students will be working on planning events including but not limited to contests, community service events, after school outings, as well as meeting with building administrators regarding building issues (playground, lunch, etc).

We are working with a new behavior reporting system to keep parents apprised of their child’s “positive” and “needing attention” behaviors at school. This will be done with Dojo because it is easily accessible to parents and families. We will still be using our pin up and pin down chart. Students will continue to report their “color” on the calendar that is located on the back of their MOOSE book!

We will be using ear bud headphones daily with our iPads this year. Please send in a set of ear buds for your child to keep at school. Everyone will keep their buds in an easter egg (the perfect fit!!!) in their tool kit, so that buds do not get mixed up or shared. If at all possible, we would appreciate extra sets of ear buds donated to our classroom.

Such an exciting day for our 1st graders, we are so happy that you will be able to join us for our “picnic read”. Hopefully (fingers crossed) it will be a beautiful day and we can enjoy reading and snacking on our quilts outside! If that is not that case, we will make it work in our classroom and the surrounding area!

To celebrate this book and the beginning of a new school year, I would like to invite all parents and families to come to our classroom on Friday, September 26th at 2:30 p.m. for a “Read-along” with your child. This visit will be a secret - a surprise for your child when you arrive en masse, just like The Relatives from our story.

 

If you are able to come, I ask that you bring some things with you:
