1st Grade Friends

We will eat around 1:30 each day when we come in for recess. I ask that every family send a snack at the beginning of each month. At this time we have 22 students in our class. I ask that you send healthy snacks to school, with the exception of the birthday treat of course. Fruit, popcorn, pretzels, graham crackers, string cheese, fruit bars, etc. are all handy snacks for the classroom.

Our open house was a success! I was so happy to meet all of those awesome new 1st graders!! As we begin the new school year we are starting a whole new adventure together. To prepare for that awesome adventure we need to have the proper supplies. Please remember to bring a backpack and water bottle to school every day. Rule of thumb on the backpack is that it needs to be large enough to fit the MOOSE book, projects, and, all too soon, snow clothes. When considering your water bottle purchase ...

All homework is a reinforcement or extension of class instruction. Homework will typically be sent home on Mondays, but a quick activity or assignment may be sent home later in the week. Saxon Phonics practice can be completed when time allows and donot need to be returned to school. All homework will be due back to school on Friday morning.  Please choose a "Homework Helper”  to go over directions and make sure work is completed and returned to school.

Our school supplies crayons, markers, pencils, and glue. Please do not send these items to school with your child. The only supplies that you will need to send to school with your child will be a backpack and a water bottle, each with their name printed clearly on it. Please make sure that water bottles have "pop-up" lid as opposed to a screw on lid (less spills). If you would like to make a donation to the classroom we can always use handsanatizer, Clorox wipes, and Kleenex.

It looks like winter is here to stay. Please make sure that you child has all of their snow gear when they head off to school. Everyone needs to have their snowpants, boots, gloves, and hats along with their warm winter jackets. If you have old boots or other winter apparel that no longer fits your child, feel free to send it to school for others to use. Enjoy the wild winter weather!

Spelling list 3 went home in MOOSE folders on Friday. The spelling test will be on Wednesday of next week (11-10-10). If you have misplaced the list you can find the list under classroom resources at the bottom of the page. You may also practice by going to the protopage that is linked to our home page and click on List 3 under Spelling City on the language arts tab.
